Vegan BBQ Sand Wich |
- T4 Whole wheat burger buns
- 1 package of seitan strips (you can slice them up further if they don’t look small enough)
- 1/3 cup of good BBQ sauce
- 1 cup of shredded green cabbage
- 2 tbsp of Veganaise
- 1/2 tsp white wine vinegar (or any other vinegar you have on hand)
- A few dashes of garlic powder
- Optional Sriracha for an extra kick
Remove the seitan strips from the package and heat them through by either microwaving them for a little bit or boiling them for a few minutes and then straining. If they don’t quite look shredded enough, you can slice them up a little bit more before mixing with the BBQ sauce.
Mix the BBQ sauce with the heated seitan and mix thoroughly. You will want to keep this warm while you assemble the cabbage slaw topping.
Finely shred about 1 cup of green cabbage, this was about 1/4 of a medium head for me.
In a mixing bowl, combine the cabbage with the veganaise, vinegar of your choice, and the garlic powder.
Assemble the sandwich by layering the seitan and the cabbage. You may want to spread a layer of BBQ sauce on your bun since it can be difficult for the seitan to pick up a lot of the sauce.
